Fostering Hope, Finding Faith, Seeking a Cure

new project

The Margaret Jane Pool Foundation (MJPF) was founded by Margaret’s daughter Patsy.  In 1999, Margaret died of Acute Edema Carcinoma, which is a rare and genetic form of non-smoking lung cancer.  Margaret died at the very young age of 63.  Patsy, now 45, has been diagnosed as being in the beginning stages.  This foundation is dedicated to creating awareness, expanding research, and finding a cure.

Here are some facts:

  • 80% of all cases are terminal
  • 100% of all terminal cases were misdiagnosed as COPD
  • 95% of all cases are woman 55 years are older
  • 100% of all victims diagnosed had a mother or grandmother that had the same disease
  • Early detection is key to preventing this disease.
  • Insurance does not provide coverage for early screening, and can be cost prohibitive, causing people to not get checked, and can often result in being diagnosed too late
